Disasters are heartbreaking, devastating things that unfortunately happen to undeserving people. Watching too much of the news can cause anxiety. Social media can cause depression. Where can we turn for hope? Jesus.
The unfortunate things that happen may cause some people to lose hope and stop believing. However, when disasters happen it's time for everyone to seek Him for answers. The faith in Jesus should increase. Reading the Bible and praying should increase.
An example in the Bible is two men that were blind in Matthew 9:27-31:
As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, shouting, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” When He entered the house, the blind men approached Him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I can do this?”
“Yes, Lord,” they answered Him.
Then He touched their eyes, saying, “Let it be done for you according to your faith!” And their eyes were opened. Then Jesus warned them sternly, “Be sure that no one finds out!” But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout that whole area.
The two men didn't run from Jesus or get mad at him because they couldn't see. They FOLLOWED Him. They asked God for mercy and to be delivered. Their faith in Jesus healed them. They didn't let their unfortunate circumstance keep them from believing. Faith wouldn't be real faith if belief only happened when things were good.
Real faith is believing all the time. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good. Even when a city is burning down or a snow storm takes place, God is still good. Even when the cost of living is more than paychecks, God is still good.
Keep believing because your faith can change your circumstances.
