I enjoy watching television shows that require someone to be rescued. The rescuer goes in to save someone not just because it's their job, but because it's the right thing to do. The rescuer knows there is risks to helping the person but proceeds to put their life in danger anyway. Whether the rescuer lives or dies, they know that they tried to do the right thing.
Sometimes doing the right thing leads to an unknown ending. However there is a peace of mind that comes with it. It is sacrifice and obedience to do what's right.

The unknown sometimes prevents people from doing the right thing. They want to be in control of everything and want to make sure they get the outcome that benefits them. If they don't see how rescuing someone benefits them then the other person suffers. They didn't do what is right, they just looked out for themselves.
I know you are probably wondering what about self-love? Yes self-love is important and the point of self-love is to take care of ourselves so that we can take care of others. For example, it is difficult to be an out of shape life guard or fire rescue person. They take of their bodies so that when it's time to rescue someone, they are strong enough for the task. Self-love isn't just for self. It's for you to help others. There is reward in helping others but no one knows what the reward will be or when it will come or what the costs will be. It takes a lot of faith and trust in God to be obedient to Him.
There are examples of this in the Bible like, Moses, Noah, Ruth and Jesus. Outside of the Bible, Martin Luther King, Jr and other civil rights leaders. All of the rescue workers that save lives everyday. Other examples are preachers, pastors, ministers, and should be all Christians.
This is a call. The world needs you to help rescue them. It doesn't have to be on a large scale. It could be something small. Do whatever God has called you to do. Do not be afraid. He is with and will guide you every step of the way.
