How to Grow After Brokenness

When life is disappointing it's hard to see the bright side of things. It feels like the bad is never going to end. Horrible thoughts of being tired of life and feeling defeated arise. Thoughts of reminiscing every step, trying to figure out how something like this can happen or questioning about how did life get like this, causes anxiety. It's in those hard times of reflecting and asking questions that things are revealed.

A person never knows a roof has to be replaced until it storms. Why? Because when the sun is shining, birds are chirping, nothing is leaking through the roof. When the storms come is when the roof leaks, shingles blow off, and awareness of the problem happens.

When something comes in to break or destroy, it's a good time to reflect. However, make sure the reflection is done positively. Don't let the reflection lead to depression, but let it lead to growth. Let the reflection of the broken thing lead to fixing the problem better than it was before.

Put what is broken in God's hands. After the leaky roof is revealed, the first thing most people do is call the insurance company. When brokenness in an area is revealed, call on God. Let Him be the insurance company to help and cover what is broken. He will be the guide to healing.

"Then young women will dance and be glad,

young men and old as well.

I will turn their mourning into gladness;

I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow."

Jeremiah 31:13 NIV

God promises to turn mourning into gladness. Mourning doesn't just happen when a person has lost a loved one, but it's when someone is in deep sorrow. It doesn't matter the reason, a person mourning is miserable, but God wants to turn that around into something great. He is willing and able to turn around your emotions for His glory.

Romans 8:18 says "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."

This is how the grow comes after brokenness, through God's glory.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, Thank you for being King of Kings, Lord of Lords. Please heal anyone that is broken. Turn their mourning into joy. Turn the ashes into a crown of beauty. I pray You get the glory out of all of our lives. In Jesus name. Amen.
