Tornado Season

I saw a post on social media that stated positive memes like "God is about to do something big in your life" are giving false hope. I don't believe that's true. Positive post might be the only hopeful thing a person experiences in their day. The positive post could be the glimpse of light someone needs to get through the tornado that's happening in their life.

I don't know that much about tornadoes, but I do know that in the middle of the storm is the eye. The eye is a hole that gives a glimpse of things to come. It's a ray of sunshine beaming down in the middle of the tornado to give a reminder that after the storm has passed the sun will come out. The eye of the storm is light in darkness.

I believe there are people that feel like they're in a tornado and having a hard time seeing the eye. It feels scary when bad things keep happening without a glimpse of hope. Staying consistently in darkness without light is very discouraging, that's why seeing the eye is important in life's tornado. Storms don't last forever. Remember, the sun never goes away, it stays above the clouds. Go to the middle of the storm and look up. Go above the dark clouds to the sun.

The sun in this metaphor is the Son, Jesus. He is the light in darkness. Jesus is in the middle of the darkness (tornado), waiting on people to find Him in there. Find Jesus in the middle by searching for a glimpse, then keep seeking the His light and focus on it. Trust Jesus is the light in darkness. Jesus said in John 12:45-47 NIV:

45 The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. 46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

47 “If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

Jesus is the light in darkness, if people want Him to be. Posting positive memes, scriptures, and words of encourage are a glimpse of the light that gives people a choice to continue to seek the light to come out of darkness. These positive snippets are the eye of the tornado that can lead people out of the storm into the light. Don't stop being the light. Don't stop seeking the light. The world needs more of it.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank you for being King of Kings. Thank you for being the light in darkness, thank you for being the eye of the life tornadoes. I pray for those in the middle of a life tornado that You will continue to guide them in it. Give them peace that surpasses all understanding. I pray for those that desire to be used by you by being the light in someone's darkness. I pray you will give them the boldness to keep posting and speaking positive things for encouragement to others. I pray that no one will let anyone or anything pull them away from Your light. In Jesus name, Amen.
